Chain Sentences - Maths

I love Maths. Maths is an interesting subject. The subject helps us learn to do the calculation. The calculation is a kind of learning. Learning to solve problems can be a difficult task. The task can be easier if we use numbers. Numbers or figures are another forms to explain problems. Problems in Maths language are in the form of equation. The equation can be represented with some numbers and letters. The letters are important elements in the Maths equation.

Paper

Nowadays people always use paper to write words, information, drawing etc. But in the past, people didn't have any paper or pens. So they had to use some sticks to write and draw on the floor and ceilings of their caves.

Later on, the Chinese invented paper made from wood pulp. So it meant using up a lot of trees. Some people will not recycle paper after using it and throw it into the rubbish bin. If the trees are all destroyed, we will die because trees give us oxygen and we can't live without it. I think people know about this but they just don't care about it.

Although paper can only be recycled seven times, we should try our best to recycle it.

Q And A

What is Q and A mean? It means questions and answers. In the world, there are a lots of questions and answers. But sometimes some questions do not have an answer. Like why people in the past were able to build the pyramids in Egypt?

Some people think they had cars in the past, some people also think there were aliens to help them to build the pyramids. People also think they were strong enough to carry the enormous blocks stones to build them ......

There are many theories but we still don't know the real answer! Some explorers tried to find it but they also failed to find the answer.

Some poeple come up with crazy answers but I think they should think of a sensible answer instead.

Table manners

In different countries, there are different table manners. For example: in China, Chinese people use chopsticks to eat their food; and use a soupspoon to have their soup.People usually try not to make any loud noise when they have their meal!

Let me show more examples. In Japan, people use chopsticks, too. But when they eat noodles there, they would make a loud noise. It means they praise the chef with their eating noise.

In France, people always have formal dinners. In a formal dinner, people use forks, knives, a soupspoon, a side plate, a plate, a serviette and a dessert spoon. Sometimes, clients usually use small forks for dessert. When they eat, they mustn't make any noise to show that they are gentle.

My Summer Trip to France and Barcelona

In my blog message with the title, "My Summer Holiday Plan" I said that I would go to France and Spain from 21st July to 28th July. I have just been there and I want to share the trip with you.

We went to France on 21st of August. We travelled to Paris by plane and it took about twelve hours. It was really boring on the plane. When we arrived there, we collected our luggage and called a taxi to go to the town. We checked in at our hotel which was called Holiday Inn. The staff told us where the Chinese restaurants were and taught us how to use the Metro.

We took The Metro (MTR) to the restaurants. When I compare the Hong Kong's MTR and Paris' Metro! Firstly there wasn't any air conditioners in the Metro. Secondly, the seats were very old. Thirdly, when you pressed the buttons, the door would open. It's extremely horrible and I think it is impossible to see changes in the near future.

When we arrived at a Chinese restaurant, we ordered something to eat. My parents ate some Chinese noodles and I ate a plate of BBQ pork chop rice. After that we took the Metro back to the hotel. I met my Barcelona friends at the hotel and my mum told me we would join together to go to Paris and Barcelona.

took the Metro Train to a French restaurant. At last we found a huge restaurant. (I'm sorry that I have forgotten the name) I ate some steak and seafood such as prawns again. Later on, We went to an observation tower and enjoyed the view. I could see all over Paris even The Eiffel Tower. It was beautiful! After that we walked to the "cite", it is the name of one of the big cities in France and we saw a big church there. The bell suddenly rang when I was walking near to it. It frightened me!

At night we had the dinner at a restaurant nearby the hotel. I found that even though it was nine o' clock at night, the sun was still shining brightly!We went to the hotel at eleven o'clock and slept at midnight.

PS: this is just the first day only, don't miss reading about the activities on the second, third, forth and the fifth day in Paris.

Autumn

Autumn is coming soon. In Autumn the weather is cool and l like the season very much.

People usually do more exercise in Autumn because the weather is more comfortable than other seasons. They always go to the gymnasium for exercise or go to the cycling track to have a ride, maybe they jog around the park. Also people have picnics in the countryside.

In Autumn leaves change their colour from green to brown and drop on the ground and end their life.

Story Plot

What is story?

Story is a piece of writing that describes a chain of related events. Every story is about one or more characters trying to deal with some sort of difficulty.

What is a story map?
A story map is a map that helps writer organise the story by focusing on characters, setting, plot; i.e. events that starts with beginning, rising, climax and ending.

What are the eight types of plot?Plot can be defined as the arrangement of narrative events in a story. It is usually organised in such a way as to create interest and involvement for the reader. It also helps to establish and emphasise causality. There are usually eight types of plot mapped by writer to devise the sequence of events in the story.

My Neighbourhood

I live at Whampoa Garden in Hung Hom. I love this area very much because there are many restaurants. I can try different types of food in different restaurants. My parents also love this area because there are about 5 big shopping centres and my mother can buy all her groceries anywhere.

There also is a club named Sport Light Club that my father and I have joined before. The club has a swimming pool, badminton courts, tennis courts, table-tennis courts, a golf court, a maze, a gymnasium etc. So my father and I often do exercise there.

My grandfather also enjoys this area because he can go to have dim sum in his favourite restaurants. He always goes to the park because there are some chairs. So he can sit there and just relax.

I really like this area especially because the air is fresh and clean with many trees and flowers here.

Tips for listening

You have exams or tests every year at school and in the exams, will have Chinese and English listening tests. I want to share some tips for listening.

First you will have a few seconds or minutes to look at the questions. You have to look at all the questions and remember most of them. Then when you listen to the content, you can answer it quickly. But when you can't remember the questions or contents, you can use a piece of white paper to mark down some important sentences and words. So you can find out the answers by using the important sentences and words.

You should pay attention while you are listening. And you will get higher marks.

My Trip to France and Spain( The first day)

In this TV programe, it talks about Winnie The Pooh and his friends who have many adventures like someone lost and they have to find them. Althought they have many argument and diffculties, they will think of many ways to stop arguing. This is my second reason why I like this TV programe!

A plan for Summer Holiday

Today is already the 28th June. There are only several days left to attend to school. Then there is a lovely and long Summer holiday comming soon. My Summer holiday starts on the 14th of July. This is my planning how to spend this long holiday. See the following list

On the 21st of July to 28th of July: go to France and Spain

On the 29th of July to 14th of August: finish my rest of my homework and play with my friends and go to the learning centre every day

On the 17th of August to 31st of August: check the homework that I haven't done and play with my friends ready for school

Cannon, the kid

Once a upon a time, there was a small kid named Cannon and he was eight years old. He was not too tall but he was very fat. Everyone loved him very much and played with him all the time because he was fun. He always made silly jokes.

One day Ben, his friend asked Cannon how to do his homework. Cannon thought Ben should be able to finish by himself so he didn't answer him. Ben was very upset and went home immediately.

Half an hour later Harry asked Cannon to play a board game with him. Cannon said, "You are rubbish! I don't want to play such a silly game, bye!" Harry cried but Cannon went away without even looking at him.

One hour later another friend Mathew asked Cannon to play Chinese chess. But Cannon said" You go away. I don't know how to play, stupid!" Mathew cried.

The next day Cannon scolded all the students in his class and nobody would ever want to play with him anymore!

Writing a composition

Do you know how to write a composition? Do you think it is very difficult? I have some useful tips to be able to write a nice composition.

Firstly, you have to think what you want to write about.For example, you want to write diary, a letter or a topic that you are interested in. You may also want to report your experiences or write something else. When you have already thought what is the title of the compostition, you have to list some points that you want to include in the passage. After that you can write the passage with some beautiful adjectives and pharses so the passage will be a joy to read. Sometimes you have to care about the format of the writing, the spelling of the words and you have to check for some silly mistakes.

At camp

On the 17th June I attended a prefect camp at Sai Kung and there were about 160 other prefects who went there. We played many games in the hall and they were really exciting. At night we had a fun pillow fight.

The next day we also played some games in the hall until noon. After that we had lunch and went back to school at two o'clock. I had two very pleasent days.

OK let me talk about what I would like to suggest what to do when you are in Hong Kong. On the first day, I think you should visit the museums in Tsim Sha Tsui. There are many interesting shows. In the Space Museum there are some latest movies about sky and space. You can also visit Historical Museum . Of course you can learn a lot about Hong Kong history there. Also you can eat in some fast food shops or restaurants there.

On the second and the third day you can go to the theme park Disneyland. You can stay there overnight. In Disneyland you can play games such as rollercoasters, shooting worriers etc. The food in Disneyland is really yummy but they are really expensive.

On the fourth day you can take a rest or go shopping. You can play computer games with me while you are bored.

On the fifth day you can do some exercises. Go to Ma On Shan for a bike riding for two hours and I think you will feel very hungry. After you have dinner, I can take you to the dessert house to have sweet dessert.

On the sixth day you must go to the Peak for a sight seeing. You will go there by trams. Trams are very famous old vehicles in Hong Kong. You will like the scene and you can take a lot of pictures there.

I will leave the last day for you to think about what you would like doing. Anyway, I hope you will have an unforgettable time in Hong Kong.

I WAS AWARDED A BRONZE CERTIFICATE IN THE OLYMPIC MATHS COMPETITION

On 30th of April, I had an Olympic maths competition at La Sa Secondary School. The teacher gave us the test paper and the answer sheet. She told us to write the answers in the answer sheet not the test paper. I saw the test paper" Wow! Help! It's extremly difficult although there were only 25 questions," I thought. The teacher also said" You have 90 minutes, you can start now!"I did it but I was not confident about it.

Last Monday, my mother told me I had been awarded a bronze certificate and I was very surprised because I did not prepare well before the test. My dad said I should have worked harder and I would get a gold certificate in the next competition in primary 6. I was very happy that I had a buffet dinner on May 24th as a reward.

My School Picnic

My school picnic was held on the 30th of April in Sheng Shui and I went there by school bus and it took about forty-five minutes to travel there from the school.

There was a big field and all the students sat down and put their things on the grass and went to play. We played badminton, table tennis, hide-and-seek, etc. We then had some snack on the grass. I ate some chips that my mother prepared for me.

After that I played badminton with my classmates . We have a lot of fun! Later I played a card game called UNO with my friends. I lost but I didn't mind because we played happily and I knew that winning or losing was not the most important thing. The most important thing was that we really enjoyed the game.

At twelve o' clock, I ate five chicken wings and some chocolate for lunch. We finished our lunch in about fifteen minutes. I played Chinese chess with my friend, Simon and I won.

At one o'clock, we went back school and my form teacher, Miss Pau let us watch a cartoon show and it was really interesting!

We had a very nice day!!!!!!

Tips for exams or tests

When you have exams or tests, sometimes you will be very scared because you think you may fail in the test, and you may be scolded by your parents. You might be hit by them too!

The Day Before the Test
This is the first tip for revision the day before the test. You, of course, have to do a lot of revision. But after studying for about thirty minutes, you must take a rest or eat something to relax youself. You should also go to sleep before ten o'clock; if not, you will not have any energy and you may not be able to answer the questions in the test. The revision that you did will be useless if you cannot recall them.

In the Test
The second tip is the way you answer questions in the test. There are about forty five questions in the tests or exams. You have to answer all the questions even though you are not sure of some. But remember that if you are not sure of the questions, do not spend too much time on them because you will not have enough time to do others, and the marks will be very low.

Time Control
The third tip is about your time control. Try to answer the questions that you know best, and use the remaining time to work on the answers of the questions you are not so sure of.

High Marks
The fourth tip is way to getting high marks. Try to answer some questions that contain more marks if you don't have sufficient time to finish all the questions. So you will have higher marks!

Be Calm
The fifth tip is to be calm and not to be nervous. Some students get nervous and they do badly in the exams. Some students who are calm in the exams and will be able to answer the difficult questions so they get high marks.

Check Answers
The sixth tip is to check your answers when you have finished you tests or exams. Every student will make some silly mistakes, careless mistakes and something else. You have to check you answers to make sure you have not made many mistakes, otherwise marks will be deducted. These silly mistakes can make you fail!

Don't Be Sad or Proud
The final tip is not to be too sad if you fail or get low marks. You should recall what's your mistakes are like and correct them, so you won't make the same mistakes next time. When you get good marks, don't be too proud or boastful because that may upset people and you will lose friends. Also you may get lower marks in the next exam because you think you are the best and do not need to try hard.

Follow these tips. I am sure you can improve your marks!

When Little Keyboard left the school alone today, He saw a woman looking at him on the other side of the road. She was wearing a black hat and black gloves. Suddenly the woman started to cross and walk towards Little Keyboard. She shook her hands and said" Hello, Child. Where are you from?" Little keyboard did not reply but he said" You are a nice lady and a very beautiful one!" He knew that she was a witch and she wanted to squish him.

So he pretended to talk with the witch and he called the police to catch her without her knowing! After that the witch wanted to squiggle him, the police caught her. This is an amazing news because no one had caught a witch before.

The next day the newspaper said Little Keyboard helped the police to catch the witch and Mr

I think this is a good idea to help lost aliens who are left behind on Earth by accident. But I think there will not be many lost aliens on this Earth. Another problem is the lost aliens may not like you helping them or they do not know how to take you to the charity.

I think I will be able to organize a music concert in the school and find you some famous singers to sing for the show but the money from the sale of tickets should go to another charity that you build.

There are about 50 books in this set of books and the charactors are a boy called Jack and his sister Annie. They went into a magic tree house which everyone else could not see. They don't know who this magic tree house belongs to!

They only need to hold a book and say" I wish I could go there!"And the magic tree house will take them there.

At last they know the magic tree house is owned by a lady called Morgan and she always gave them many missions to go on! So there are many books telling about Jack and Annies' adventures. They are very exciting! You can borrow them in the school or at local libraries!

A cat

I have a cat in my house.

She is very cute and smart.

She always runs around the house to keep fit.

My Assessment Result

I got 92 marks in my Chinese test.

I got 91 marks in my English test.

I got 98 marks in my Maths test.

My General test result is the highest in my class!

April Fools Day

Where you cheated on April Fools Day? Did you feel happy or anoyed?

On April Fools Day I cheated my classmates but they weren't angry with me. They just laughed and forgot it.

So on April Fools Day we can make a joke but not about serious things because that will be make others people angry with you and distroy your friendship with them! So be careful!!!

Children Day

Yesterday was Children Day. I went to Maxim's Restaurant with my grandpa and my parents to eat lunch. I ate two pieces of siu mai and some others dim sums.

After that I went to Ma On Shan with my father for bicycle riding. We rode about 90 minutes from Ma On Shan to Sha Tin. It was very tiring and sleepy.

Later on we ate dinner at a restaurant called "Han Fuk".
I ate some meat and a big fish. The food was very delicious.

At about eight o'clock, I went to Sport Light Club in Hung Hom to play badminton.

When I returned home I was extremly tired and sleepy and I slept very fast and had a nice dream!!!!!

Adjectives are like names

When we use some adjectives to describe things or persons, we actually give them "names". This will tell other people some characteristics or personality of the item or someone we want to let others know.

For example, we want to introduce a newsletter for children to read, we can tell the children,

Interesting
The newsletter provides a lot of interesting stories with comprehension questions for readers. The stories, like Great Mouse Detective are very interesting to read.

The newsletter also shows a lot of funny cartoon characters, such as Beanie Family, Kelly, Hokkaido pigs.

Good
The newsletter has a lot of good articles for children. They help them learn English.

My father

I'd like to introduce my father who is very kind.

My father is about forty years old but he is very healthy and looks very young. He always has a big smile on his face. He is clever and smart.

He teaches me many things. He is good at Olympic Mathematics. He helps me to solve the Maths problem. I like to talk to him very much.

He seldom argues with other people because he is very generous. He always listens to opinions and ideas. His friends like him.

He is a good father to me and a good friend to others!!!!!!

My Grandpa

I want to introduce someone I respect. This is my grandpa.

My grandpa is about seventy five years old but he is very healthy. He eats a lot of vegetable every day. But he is quite absent minded. Sometimes he cannot remember what he has done or what he did a moment ago.

My grandpa lives with me because he wants to take care of me. He picks up me from the school bus and always takes me to the learning centre. In the weekends he takes me to the restaurant to have lunch.

I love him very much!!!

My Mom

My Mom is about thirty five years old.

My Mom is getting fatter.

And she has to do more exercises.

If not, everyone will laugh at her!

I wish she can keep herself fit!!

School Parent Day

It was the Parent Day yesterday. I went to school with my parents to see my class teacher, Miss Bao.

Miss Bao told me I had to be more careful because I did my exam paper carelessly. Also she said I was sometimes impatient!

I will follow my class teacher's instructions and I will be more careful in the next term!!

Good Month

I think Febuary is a very good month because there are many holidays with no tests or exams.

This month I can get more time to play my Ps2 with my friends. I will have lovely dinner with my parents!!!

My School Picnic Has Rescheduled

My school picnic was scheduled on 5th Febuary but my school principal said that the temperature of Hong Kong was very low, and it was too cold for the outing. So she said the date for our picnic would be changed to 30th April.

Some students are very upset because they want to go to the picnic earlier before they have the Chinese New Year.

But I think it is really too cold and it might also rain, so we may not be able to play there.

I wish the date, 30th April will come earlier, and we can play and have fun!

February

February has already arrived. I think everyone will have a new wish.

I wish I can do more Chinese exercises this month because my Chinese result is not very satisfactory. Also I want to get more pocket money so I can buy more thing that I like.

And I know Chinese New Year is coming and I wish I can play happily these days!!

My Lunch Box

Every day I usually have my lunch at school at twelve o'clock. When I get my lunch box and I look to see what the food is in the box.

Sometimes I am very happy because the food is my favourtie. But sometimes I am very upset because I hate the food !!!!!

Luckily this term I liked all the food in my lunch box. I wish my favourite food will always be there in my lunch box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading Books

Some people say that reading is very boring, but I do not really think so, because we can learn more about the world from reading. We can also learn a lot of new words and sentences to get the message.

Some books have many beautiful pictures nowadays and I find that they can make me more interested in reading.

I get high marks in Chinese and English writing exams because I read many books and I can use the useful vocabulary in the writing exam. That's why reading is very important to every student because if you don't read books , you don't have much ideas to write and to talk to people.

Sometimes while we are reading books, we find there are some difficult words that you don't know. Try to check them from the dictionaries and learn them!!!!

School Picnic

I have my school picnic on the 5th of Feburary. I know my classmates like to play Chinese chess, so I decide to start a Chinese chess team.

I invite many friends: Kelvin Lam, Bobby Leong, Ben Lou etc. I would like Kelvin Lam to be the leader. I think he can be a good leader because he can speak very clearly. They all agree to form the team.

I wish we can have more time to play the Chinese chess and I think it will be very very excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go To School

Every day I take the school bus to school.

I am very happy because I know this is the beginning of the day and I think I will be lucky and I will learn new things from the lessons. I will also meet different teachers and classmates. We will also enjoy the day together.

When I go into the classroom, I say "Hi!" to everybody, and sit on my chair, and ready for the lessons!!!

My PS2

I have a PS2 at home.This is the present that my mum gave me three years ago.

My mother always tells me not play to much because it will hurt my eyes, so she only lets me play on Friday and Saturday. Sometimes she lets me play on Thursday or Sunday.

I will follow my mum's instruction so I will not hurt my eyes and will make my mum happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Cousin Peter

I have a cousin called Peter. He always plays computer games with me. He is very good at playing computer games.

Usually he stays with me for one to five nights if he visit us. But now he is very busy. Alhough he is on holidays, he has to go to work because his mum want him to find a job and lets him know earning money is very very difficult. So he will treasure the money.

I know that he will very busy and cannot come to my home to play with me. I will go to his work place and meet him.

What is the result of my exam 2

Last time I didn't know what is the marks my General Studies, Chinese writing and Music exam but now I know that already!


I get 93 marks in my General Studies exam, 94 marks in my Chinese writing exam and full mark in the Music exam.

My mum say I can be more careful when I do the test or exam in the second and she told me she will think about buy a Ps3 to me.

I am very happy when I hear my mum will buy be aPs3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Day Dream

I saw a beautiful girl called Alice. We played together in the park for one hour and went shopping . We bought many things such as chicken wings,a huge fish and some meat for our dinner. After dinner she asked me to play PS2 with her.

We played until twelve 0'clock and slept on the sofa. When I woke up, I saw my English teacher who was trying to wake me up. Oh! It was only a day dream!! She was very angry and told me no more day dreaming any more or she would punish me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do I usually do in weeks?

On Monday to Thursday, I usually do my homework and revision after school or have some English or Maths class. Sometimes my mum lets me to ride the bicycle in the park.

On Friday I always play Ps2 with my friend for many hours. She always eats dinner in my home.

On the weekends I always watch television and play Ps2. Usually, I play with my friends in the park or my father drives me to Ma On Shan to ride bicycle with him because he wants to keep fit.

Ways to improve my speaking

I've found that I always think faster than I can speak. So, when I speak, I must try to slow down my thinking and stick it to points I am speaking.

For example, when I am telling my friend about my learning experience, I should focus on the the learning experience I'd like to tell my friend. I know that I can easily side track by other things. But I must try my best to stick to the topic until I finish speaking at least one full sentence.

Next time, I will speak with full sentences to make sure others know what I am talking about!!!!!

My Disneyland Day

On the 27th of December, I went to Hong Kong's Disneyland with my parents and my friend's family. There were seven people totally.

At about ten o'clock, we went into the Disneyland and walked along America Street and entered into Tomorrow Land to play Space Mountain and Race Car. Afterwards we had our lunch in a nearby food court and took some rest there. The food was quite expensive. A medium size of steak costs 60 dollars, but it was really delicious!

After the lunch we played an advantureous game at Winnie the Pooh. It was really wonderful. Then we went to Exploring Land. We had a boat tour led by a tour guide. It was fantastic!

At about seven o'clock, we got hungry so we went to Maxim's restaurant to have dinner. The last program started at nine o'clock, it was the fireworks display near the castle. Lastly, we went back to the hotel and played Uno and Monopoly until half past eleven and then went to bed and had a lovely dream.

Tips for Preparing for Oral Exam

I find it difficult to prepare for the oral exam.

But I think I can speak more and be more relaxed when I speak a little bit slowly.
I always speak too fast, and my brain works faster than my mouth. I must slow down to make sure I can speak clearly and I can speak and think at the same time.

I jump too much from one idea to another. I must learn to start from one main point and try to link all the other things to the main point when I speak.

I can also learn to describe from the big (overall) thing to the small things. Get into the small details as far I can.

What is the result of my exam 1

In the last week I had a big exam and I was very worried about my marks because if the marks were lower than 85 , my mum will scole me for 1 week!

Luckily my exam was not too bad . Although the Chinese exam paper had not given to us. My class teacher told me I have 89 marks and she said I have to be work harder.

In my English exam, there was two exam papers. One was the reading part and another was the writing part. In the first paper, I got seventy out of sixty-six point five and in the second paper I got thirty out of twenty-eight. I got the highest marks in the class.

I got 95 marks in the Maths exam. It was better than the first and second test.

I don't know what was the marks in the General Studies exam because the teacher didn't tell us any marks.

I wish my General Studies exam will get high marks and my parents will buy me a Ps3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
